Who is Black girl Interrupted?!

Hey y'all, I'm Ashlee, a Louisiana girl with deep Texas roots and the owner and creator of Black Girl Interrupted Podcast. I started this podcast to speak freely on topics that people often think Black women are too aggressive and angry to discuss openly. I got tired of being silenced and having to speak in a roundabout way to make others comfortable.

My therapist suggested that I start writing to come out of the dark space that I was in. However, I found it hard. So, she suggested that I start recording. Thus, Black Girl Interrupted was born. This podcast allows me to be as free and vulnerable as I need to be without interruptions or judgment. There are no restraints here, only real, raw, and open conversations.

This space is for creators to breathe. It's a place where everyone can open up about their opinions, with uplifting, healthy debates and meaningful conversations. I created Black Girl Interrupted with the intention to heal myself and then realized that I am here to help heal our Black Community as a whole.

As a single mother of three, I've encountered many interruptions in my life. I felt it was time to share my stories not only to help but also to encourage others. I knew it was time to empower men and women to love themselves again. It's time to take our Kingdom back and adjust our crowns as the Kings and Queens we were born to be.

We believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.

Our Mission

"To provide a platform for unapologetic, raw, and honest conversations that amplify the voices and experiences of Black men and women. Our Vision

"To create a community where Black men and women hold each other accountable with respect and unity, without malice. We aim to find common ground even when we disagree, fostering fair and constructive conversations. Our goal is to encourage accountability, openness to correction, and acceptance of constructive criticism as essential for personal and community growth. We aspire to increase support within our community and break barriers by creating our own opportunities. Quality is our priority over quantity, and we believe that standing together makes us stronger than standing apart, echoing the strength of unity from the past. We are committed to consistency in promoting these values and actions."
